Those of us in the educational field who have had the opportunity to teach and work with children, and adults, who are visually impaired will tell you that the rewards are beyond expectations, as we are always touched and inspired and amazed by the achievements of these fine folks...
This month we've been celebrating National Braille Literacy--in honor of Louis Braille who created the system of raised dots for visually-impaired individuals (at the young age of fifteen might I add), thus giving them a form of independence and immense freedom to read and write for themselves. Louis went on to add to his already winning style by applying a similar form to music. Visually-impaired himself at the age of three due to an eye injury, Louis reminds us that we are all on this earth to learn, grow, develop and share our gifts with each other...
