Let's face it... we are consumed with numbers from birth: our actual date and time of birth, our birth weight, length and that first apgar score. And if we want to get more technical about this as it relates to the chicken or the egg and which came first, we ladies keep a track of our monthly cycles, so we can estimate our best dates for conception, and note the number of weeks to a full-term pregnancy and exciting culminating due date. Or, simply to keep tabs on that aspect of our health. While numbers are a good thing, and necessary in many cases to maintain a fluid and organized household and business operation, it's important for us to remember that the human element vibrates to a higher order. There's something spectacular in remembering that student's or client's name and they yours from across that 'crowded room', especially years after that period of engagement has long passed...

Welcome to April! The flowers are on their way... and many of us are counting the days. ;)

In larger group settings, and moreso a variety of unique gatherings,  I've caught myself on occasion scrambling to recall that name, and relying on the non-judgemental kindness of my closer working buddies, boss or neighbor for that desired, elevated interpersonal connection. Sometimes that numbered, electronic photo ID saves the day, but these days, many tend to flip the information side toward themselves--- so I've made it a point to attach simple, everyday symbols to remember the names of  those folks who I may not see on a regular basis, but are nonetheless integral parts of  a designated daily, weekly, monthly and or quarterly project, and larger firm. How many names can one mind recall... I'm thinking as many as it wants to remember, with or without a potential invoice.

We're all in this together, sharing the same sun.

// To List OR Not To List...

"Making a list and checking it twice"... where have we heard this well-known phrase before? While making a list remains mandatory for the most disciplined of us, from that miniature-sized, sometimes handmade, shirt-pocket notebook (my dads), to the more fashionable, fits in the handbag memo book or diary, or that upgraded electronic planner, many who thrive best along the organic wavelength, would prefer to avoid the sometimes boxed-in feel of having to create a daily to-do list, or mounting, overwhelming schedule to actually keep us on track...

Personally, I dislike lists and dislike is putting it mildly. Not too long ago, I had no need for lists as my days were simple and straightforward--- wake up, get ready for work, go to work, work, head back home, unwind, get ready for bed and fall asleep. Next day, do it all again...in that exact order. Pretty mundane, easy and very natural. With grocery shopping on a Friday evening and a once a week get-together with my good friends on a weekend night, life still remained uneventful as it pertained to the need to make a list... organic living at its best! Times do change however and before I knew it, to remain connected to my career field, and stay engaged with my true passion, I've  had to juggle and jump hoops on a regular basis with work in various locations, and family demands, which too frequently left me reeling for some quiet, uninterrupted balance...

While I'm grateful for these work-ties that do help me maintain my sanity, while away from my true home-base, I quickly faced and realized for the first time, that maintaining a daily schedule and list was necessary to avoid heading to the grocery store more than once or twice for the week for starters. Consider it a goal for our own long-term wellness in all its facets... similar to getting rid of some extra unwanted pounds-- noting what we consume on a daily basis, and creating a reasonable list of better choice foods, and some favored activity to follow, will get us to that desired fluffed feeling... 

And most importantly, scheduling that 'calgon' take me away alone time and or hot steamy morning, afternoon, night, and or long weekend... (sometimes we need more ;)) is no longer a laughing out loud matter... but the only way to ensure that we'll make it back to Monday, all in one piece or with at least, our best productive potential... we're always works in progress-- go easy with the listing too.

60 Minutes to Bedtime...

 

On the way home from one of my offices, there's a lovely, contemporary-styled lounge and I always get a kick out of seeing the same familiar faces, in the same spots, at pretty much the same time most evenings (some wide-eyed, some half asleep, some musing with the music or book in hand),... the folks have started looking back, so now they're on to me lol... the music which vibrates outdoors is definitely a thrill for all carefree passers by, you know that jazzy groovey tune that makes you want to go your own way with a drink or two in hand, and perhaps even spend the night... 60 minutes to bedtime with the super lush music of Paulo Arruda. here's to saxy sweet dreamz~
