Our children are often going a mile a minute these days with so many extracurricular activities (keeping them fully engaged is stylishly in, right?:)), homework assignments, additional school projects, and other supplemental programs at times, and our moms, also very instrumentally involved with this keeping up, that it's so easy to miss what they are often expressing with their own body language--- the need for more quiet disengagement from life's flurry. Are you out of breath as yet with this on and on and on sentence? I did that on purpose. And this school year was no different, as once again we heard our young kids here and there mention how much they had to do, and the never ending rush(es) of life.
As classroom teachers, if we're willing to do the weekly hands on with cutting and merging strands and concepts, we can give them that full healthy and relaxing classroom day with each other which they always revel in. If not, and even if so come to think of it, there's yoga for a let-go and let-be re-connection interlude with the self. And this year, we did just that. As promised, here are a few thoughts they shared after their very first in-the-classroom 30 minute yoga-flow experience... and six yoga favorites. What a treat!
ONE: The Yoga Bible by Christina Brown
TWO: Rachel's Day in the Garden: A Kids Yoga Spring Colors Book
THREE: Women's Gaiam Intention graphic-print yoga tee
FOUR: Lands' End Women's yoga pants
FIVE: BalanceFrom Go Exercise yoga mat
