Softer metallic looks we can enjoy without going full-blown golden blonde. A few decades ago, I came home a blonde and yes, a full head of blonde. We know how late teen years can go... and well, the hazelnut-ash colour choice stayed on a tad too long while having fun-overload at the hair salon that fateful Friday. I totally freaked out as the curlers came rolling out (with immediate plans to return early next morning to resolve). It was more than enough to make the boys playing hockey further down our street drop their sticks and start running up the street for a closer close-up, that evening...
But I ran faster indoors and closed all the windows. On hearing the window excitement, my mom came out of her bedroom and shrieked, "I don't believe it! What did you do!?" All that was needed to truly hit the jackpot that night was a pair of matching gold stilettos and a downtown destination. And then my sister saw it and said wide-eyed and open-mouthed, "Is that a wig Sue?" How I wished. Thank goodness there was a Ms. Clairol Nice'n Easy Blue Black Permanent Hair Colour Crème in our linen closet from a recent trip (born navy blue lover) to take me back to ground zero over the next two hours. I'll never forget this and neither has my mom and sister. It was a night to remember. #wildchild moments, and this too is a true story.
These are my tamed go-tos for a one-at-a-time touch of golden glam for our quiet holidays this year... I'm staying in my raven lane.
Left to right: hair tinsel styles (for the more introverted), available at our grocery and dollar stores!, and hair pin sets. Shown here.
Leather bows and saffron silk hair bows.
And these new and now holiday gold dust loves from CHANEL. A little touch of Chanel (shimmer-flecked gold gloss, above) always adds a lift to any day. Nail colour shown is Chaîne d'Or.
