This was the year for it. Totally unexpected, the highlight of all my home-cooked meals, especially meats, was the simple and classic once weekly, weeknight or weekend movie-night cheeseburger. And it was all about adding a bit of ginger, and seasoning the ground beef overnight for added infused flavour. Better burger days or nights it became, and all done in the smaller toaster oven. I don't think I may buy a ready-made burger ever again; at least not for a while. Fleetwood Mac - Hypnotized (HD)
Ingredients (Serves 4):
1 pound lean ground beef
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon organic ground ginger
1 tablespoon coconut nectar (or Worcestershire sauce)
3 stalks green onions (rinsed and minced)
lettuce (+ other extras as desired)
condiments (mayo, ketchup, mustard...)
brioche hamburger buns (gluten-free)
Directions:
Season the ground beef with the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and ground ginger, and combine well. Add the coconut nectar and green onions and blend in. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
Remove from the refrigerator 20 minutes before bake time to release some of the chill.
Line a baking pan with foil and top with a baking sheet.
***Set oven to 400 F.
Divide the seasoned ground beef into 4 equal parts and make individual burger patties. Flatten each patty for easier through and through baking.
Place the patties on the baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes, or to your desired medium or well-done, flipping the patties at 20 minutes.
I added thin slices of mozzarella during the last 5 minutes.
Remove the patties from the oven and let rest for a few minutes.
Create your burgers with lightly toasted buns and your choice of toppings.
