Happy National Banana Day! The fruit that delivers its own sweetness, creaminess, and full-on nutritional wholesomeness. I love having a good half of a semi-ripe banana (peeled and sliced), most days of the week with my morning coffee. On the days that I switch things up with another whole fruit, a smoothie for lunch or solo-night dinner with a few round frozen slices of banana is always a filling treat. My refreshing (and delicious!) at-home recipe after the jump, and of course, the more indulgent Bananas Foster Ice Cream (Frozen Shake)...
Ingredients (Serves 2):
1 ripe banana (sliced & already frozen overnight in the freezer)
1/3 of a fresh chilled peach, diced (or 5 drained slices from canned peaches)*
1 cup favourite milk (almond, hazelnut, whole, 2%, or skim)
pinch of fine sea salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (optional)
3 large ice cubes
Directions:
* The fresh peach mellows the intensity of the banana, while still allowing the banana to be the star of this frozen flavour.
Add all the ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend for a few seconds to your desired frozen texture. If too thick texture-wise, just add a little more milk to the blend. Enjoy!
