Our holiday watches are abound, and right around this time of the year, we look forward to a loved (and softer) feel-good favourite on the weekend for more laughter, quiet entertainment and relaxation. Three lighter oldies we'll forever enjoy...
Pretty Woman - A man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful 'lady of the night'... So many things to love about this movie including all the romance under the disguise of a 'business transaction'. My favourite is the growing friendship between Vivian (Julia Roberts) and Barney (Hector Elizondo), the hotel manager. "Wild women do, and they don't regret it." :)
The Adjustment Bureau - The romance between a politician and a contemporary dancer is affected by mysterious forces keeping the lovers apart. We are long-time fans of Elise (Emily Blunt) and David (Matt Damon), and their electrifying chemistry on screen is everything between the story layers. Some connections are just meant to be and when we can relate to it in our own personal way, it heightens the intensity and fabulous-ness of each repeat experience.
And, The Birdcage - A gay cabaret owner and his drag queen companion agree to put up a false straight front so that their son can introduce them to his fiancée's right-wing moralistic parents. A great! full cast, and story line that will live on for centuries. We are in constant laughter enjoying the many twists and thrills of this loved film. A definite holiday spirit lifter-upper. "Something very strange is going on..." haha
